| I prefer to notill beans direct into standing stalks..........but more years than not I end up having to run the harrow on some ground to get it to dry out. Big corn crops the last 5 years and wet springs overall have made it a challenge.
So yes I run it over standing stalks and no it doesn't ball up. The second pic is what it looks like planting into after one pass with the harrow.
The last pic of the actual harrow is a field I had to hit twice it was so wet. I ran the harrow 3-4 days before that pic. You can see 2 passes actually makes a really nice seed bed.
I would not and do not run the harrow in the fall on stalks. Spring only
This spring will be interesting. I ran devastators on a 4408 head last fall and I think I am going to like direct notill into that as well.......and I'm sure I will have some fields that need a harrow and will be interested to see how the harrow does behind devastators.
I wish Phillips made a 50 or 55 foot harrow. It is the most used tool on the farm. All corn ground gets hit with it to level NH3 and of course some bean ground to get air to the soil.
