West Central Illinois
Assume if you are from Northern Missouri your ground is rolling. Thats perfect and the 1250 opener is perfect.
But you need to do three things:
First if you don’t have adjustable airbag down pressure. add it.
Second, get spiked or shark tooth trash whippers. Yetters can adjustable ones are very nice. They will only cost you once but pay back ever day.
And third, have patience. Under heavier residue clumps your ground may stay wetter than tilled ground. But if your ground is rolling I bet you will find dry spots to keep going. If it is flatter, consider running a vertical till on some acres to speed up spring drying.
Oh, and a bonus fourth - tile. Just makes everything work better.
Edit to add: as others have said, row cleaners don’t work to well in 15 in rows. But when we switched everything to 20’s they work fine. Of course 30s would too. Our 1240 units work without them but it’s a little better with them.
The big reason recommend them is for corn.
