You need to pull out SS payments. When I working in Maryland, I saw so many northers move to the south to retire. NC, FL were big states that people retired to, to live.
Why? And if so then you would have to do the same for all states to have a comparable chart. Did you run the numbers because they don't really change much. In fact they skew the numbers a bit more towards blue states. SS recipients in Cali get 60% more total money than in Florida but get less on a per capita basis.
I'm not pointing it out because I think blue states = good, red states = bad. I simply highlight it because it is another example of wealth transfer; a necessary wealth transfer if you want a prosperous nation. The same way Canada uses equalization transfers.
