Faunsdale, AL | No, that’s wrong. There can be consensus and it’s useful when something needs to get done. If there’s no consensus of what’s the most likely best thing to do, nothing can ever get done.
Consensus can never get “comfortable”. New research may come up with something that changes the science and there may be a new consensus that will be used in it’s time to guide actions that may need to be taken.
Consensus isn’t the enemy or antithesis of science, it’s the “face” of science that those that need to know the best information available without having the ability to do the research themselves are going to have to look at. Nobody can know it all, there’s always areas that any person won’t have the foggiest about and for which scientific consensus is very useful. | |
