Here you would be dollars ahead to combine the rye to sell the seed, plant turnips for fall grazing, and feed or sell the straw. You could buy hay with the money from rye and end up with more forage than if you grazed it. Hay is cheap here since so many dairies are gone and the sons work as prison guards and bale the old orchardgrass fields once a year whether they need it or not.
