Latimer, Iowa (north central) | The millet produced about 1/3-1/2 the forage as the sorghum sudangrass. Sorghum sudan was 5-6 foot or so high and the millet was about 2.5-3 foot. Both seem to regrow well after grazing until it freezes. For a month, I think they were both growing faster than the cattle were eating them. Too much feed is a good problem. Will see if I can find some pictures of both on my phone.
Pics 1-3 on August 31st about 40 days after planting both.
first pic, the line between the sorghum sudan and millet.
2-3 pickup in each on Aug 31st
Cattle after turnout on Sept 15. 650 lbs Hereford steers.
