750 heat units is an eternity in this part of the world and about 30% of the growing season.  Looking at historical records, if one waited here for 750 GDUs, it would be in late June.

June 26, 2024

Average annual accumulated heat units at corn planting time over those past five years has been 21 GDUs.  Last of the frost just left, soil temp is about to hit 50 and it's go time.  There must be a number for those of us in the frozen tundra that is a better guideline than 750.
