PatrickMahomes69 - 4/1/2025 12:21 Hey WYDave, big thanks to you for the solid advice! I really appreciate the detailed breakdown, and after thinking it over, I’m gonna go with the 7mm-08—seems like a great all-around choice. Seriously, I appreciate you taking the time to share your knowledge. But while I’ve got you—what’s your take on the 6.5-300 Weatherby Mag? I already own one, and I gotta say, I love that thing. It’s an absolute flamethrower—flatter than a pancake on a cast iron and reaches out like it's got a personal grudge against anything past 500 yards. Only downside is, it’s not exactly a rifle you wanna shoot all day unless you like sore shoulders. Curious to hear your thoughts! And again, thanks a ton for the insight!

For ANY gun with a big recoil - get a good muzzle brake - there is ZERO need to beat yourself up with recoil when there is a simple solution.
A good example is my son's 300 Winmag, before even I didn't want more than 5 shots (many times I have shot over 200 rounds of 12 gauge in a day) after the muzzle brake his 9-year-old daughter shoots it with no problem.
