Coefficient of Variation is the Standard Deviation divided by the Mean (average).

A 0.12 CV means the standard deviation is 12% of the average.  For a 0.35 CV, the standard deviation is 35% of the average.

A higher CV is a higher rate of variability in seed spacing.

If the population is set on a planter so that each seed ideally is spaced 6" apart but some end up at 4" and others are 8" that planter will have a higher CV than a planter with seeds that range from 5.5 to 6.5" spacing.

The goal is lower CV with less variation to achieve more consistent seed-to-seed spacing.
