Doesn't help that trying to have a civil discussion with someone like that person's niece just devolves into a one-sided shouting match in most cases. The critical thinking part just flew out the window and it becomes pure uncontrolled emotion. Bad thing is the far left actually encourage that behavior.
People don't always have to agree with one another, might not change someone's mind with a civil discussion but at least they can see where each other stands and why.
