Subject: What Direction does a motor turn

To be exact a V 8 Ford 460 that ran on propane, Reason I am asking I have a Aurora Irrigation pump that was run by this gas motor and worked fine when propane was .40 but now that is more expensive and a lot easier to run on electricity it has been converted to an electric motor problem is the pump will pump the rated GPM (850)for about 8-10 hours and then will start to slow down and after 36-48 hrs it is only pumping 500 GPM what we are trying to figure out is do we have it running the wrong direction currently we have it turning clockwise and I am thinking a gas motor runs counter-clockwise so we switched the leads on the electric motor to make it turn CCW and now it will only pump 300 GPM does anyone have any ideas since it used to work OK.
