From our experience I would stay away from a Woods 3180 & a JD 1508. Have had both & both were poorly built IMO. All the 3180s I have seen have had their hitches broken, including our. The square tube that the hitch is welded to is too thin and tears away. When we rebuilt ours we encased the tube with 1/2" angle iron. Another weak point are the blades. They bend if you hit a hidden object & get into the deak :~( The spindles are another weak point. Problem we had with the 1508 was it didn't have slip clutches on the wings :~((. I admit we are pretty hard on mowers as we only mow roadsides, waterways, creek banks, & lots with them. I would hate to thing how many miles of roadsides & waterways we mow each time, probably 15-20 miles not including the lots.

Next batwing we buy will either be a heavy duty Bush Hog, h.d. Land Pride, or a Schultz (sp). Guys that have those models seem to get along without much problems.
