Subject: RE: So much good talk about tracks what is the bad.

The first year or two that JD had their track tractors out our JD dealer had an 8400T out for demo that fall and and I think they ended up sending it back after a few guys demo'd it. Once there was a little frost in the ground that fall the track tractor was helpless, it would just sit on top and spin where with a tire tractor it will usually dig down a little bit and get some traction. One of our neighbor's have an STX Quad Track and I know they've ran it on a ripper quite a bit when the ground was frozen but it would be alot heavier than a row crop track tractor. As far as I know our JD dealer never has sold any track tractors but there are a few Cat's around now and guys seem to like them.
