Subject: New guy may have done something he shouldn’t have

East TN
So, in a spur of the moment I may have bought some triticale seed, and planted a field of it. Now I’m pretty lost on the what to do. A bit of back story I’m looking to raise some cattle eventually but I wanted to start by setting up some productive hay/silage fields. Couple of problems I don’t know anything about forage, in trying to research and learn, I came across triticale. From what I read it seemed perfect for cattle but ideally (according to TriCal) should be planted first week of September. So in feeling like I was going to miss my window, I just hurried and put it in the ground. Have I wasted my time? It’s a couple weeks late the field previously was filled with weeds that I just plowed up. No herbicide burn down before, no fertilizer or lime. I did get soil to do a soil test and waiting on that but what do you guys think? It’s only a 7 acre little tiny field so it’s not a huge financial loss if it ruins but just looking for thoughts
